School Policies

WAMY HIGH SCHOOL is in an Islamic environment.  Besides the general school rules set below, Muslim students are expected to follow the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith.  For the purpose of ensuring a smooth school routine, the following school rules and regulations will apply at all times and all students are expected to observe them strictly.

Students will also be expected to observe any subsequent regulations, schedules, circulars, instructions, memos, notices and guidelines that may be issued from time to time. A WAMY HIGH SCHOOL student must observe the highest sense of self-discipline at all times.  He will do the right thing, at the right place, at the right time and in the right manner.

  • 1. TARBIYA

(a) All prayers are compulsory. Missing prayers is highly prohibited in the school.

(b) Qur’an recitation after fajr prayers to 6:10 a.m is compulsory to all students.

(c) Duksi program for Form ones and Form twos is compulsory depending with the schedule. 

  • 2. UNIFORM

Students shall wear the appropriate uniform at all times within and outside school. No other clothes will

be allowed to be worn. Proper dressing has to be observed e.g. tacking in. Open shoes shall not be used

during class hours. No student shall be allowed to leave school in kanzus and open shoes. 

  • 3. Punctuality

Students must respect the bells and respond accordingly.  These include times for assembly, preps,

classes, meals, games, clubs, lights out and prayers.

  • 4. DRUGS-SMOKING, MIRAA CHEWING  AND ALCOHOL TAKING

Students are forbidden from use of the above substances.                  

  • 5. FIGHTING AND INFLICTING BODLY HARM TO OTHER STUDENTS

Fighting and bodily harm to other students is not allowed in the school. 

  • 6. RUDENESS AND DISOBEDIENCE TO AUTHORITY

Students shall always respect the Principal, Deputy Principal, teachers, non-teaching staff and school visitors.

  • 7. SNEAKING

No student is allowed to leave the school compound without written permission. Any student going out

must obtain a sheet from the Principal, Deputy Principal, Boarding Master or teacher on duty. On return the

sheet must be given back to authorizing office. The school is not responsible for any student who sneaks

from school. 

  • 8. REPORTING BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER SHORT OR LONG HOLIDAYS

Every student is expected to report back in school on opening day before 4 p.m. No student will be

received in school after 4 p.m. Late comers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

  • 9. FOUL LANGUAGE

Students shall communicate to others in a respectful manner. Insults are not allowed. 

  • 10. PROHIBITED MATERIALS AND PLACES

            The following items are not allowed in school: Electronic gadgets and accessories, foodstuffs and drinks

from outside the school, bangles/bracelets, rings, necklaces, knives, metal bars.

Prohibited Places: Staffroom, Kitchen, Staff quarters and Mosque unless permitted.

  • 11. THEFT

No student shall steal or handle stolen property from within or outside the school. 

  • 12. BULLYING,THREATS AND INTIMIDATION

No student is allowed to bully, threaten or intimidate another student.

  • 13. INCITEMENT

No student is allowed to incite other students in school.

  • 14. SCHOOL PROPERTY

No student is allowed to damage or lose school property e.g. Text books, furniture, windows, doors, bulbs,

utensils,notice boards, chalk boards, ceiling boards, walls and electronic systems.

  • 15. LANGUAGE POLICY

The official communication languages in the school are English, Kiswahili and Arabic.

Vernacular and sheng is prohibited at any time.

  • 16. Sports and Games/CLUBS, SOCIETIES AND MOVEMENTS

Students are expected to participate in at least one sport or game. Students must play in the right sports gear. Students will only play during scheduled time. Damage and loss of school items is not allowed.

Students are expected to join at least one club, society or a movement.

  • 17. Medication

The school will meet the medical expenses for the year up to a maximum of KSh.2000.  The parent/guardian will have to reimburse the school for any extra bill.

  • 18. Personal Hygiene

All students must keep themselves clean and tidy at all times.  Each student shall keep his hair short and combed, keep his finger nails short, brush his teeth regularly, take a shower daily, not wear any kind  of rings, necklaces, bangles, tattoo their bodies, or dye their hair. Students must wear clean clothes, wash sheets regularly and spread the bed. They must keep the dormitory, toilets and school compound clean.
